About Me

Ioannis Kyriakidis

Hello

I'm Ioannis (Giannis, pronunciation; YAH-nis) Kyriakidis, a software engineer from Greece. My journey in software development started in 2000, when a VB6 book was given to me. This was the trigger to start learning and writing code. Back then, it was quite difficult for a teenager to learn a programming language, without the Internet, without StackOverflow, just with a book and MSDN library on CD (which was awesome!). Since then, I continue to get excited about every new thing that I can learn and do with it.

Education & Teaching

After my BSc graduation at the Applied Informatics and Multimedia Engineer (TEI of Crete), I decided to perform research in the fields of Environmental Informatics, Artificial and Computational Intelligence and Computational optimization. My research was focused on the air quality forecasting problems with statistical and computational methods, for which I was awarded a PhD degree from the University of South Wales. Additionally, I have over 4 years of teaching experience, as a laboratory instructor in several academic courses (such as Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Neural Networks, etc.) at the Technological Educational Institute of Crete.

Experience

I have over 12 years of experience working in software development companies, and a total of 20 years of software development experience. I love to design, organize and solve complex product and technical problems. I always had the intellectual curiosity about how things work and I were always trying to comprehend various subjects through questioning, learning and using critical thinking.

I am currently employed at Kaizen Gaming (Stoiximan/Betano) as a Senior Software Engineer. I had been employed at papaki.com for many years as a Software Engineer, Scrum Master & Mentor. I had the opportunity to design software, organize tasks and projects, and solve complex problems, on a daily basis. As a scrum master, I had organized the software development processes and help colleagues to understand and adopt Scrum and Kanban. In addition, as a mentor, I had organized the developers learning processes and help nurture a culture of continual learning.

404 Life not Found

Life is not just about programming. I like spending my free time with the people I love (friends and family), learning new stuff, watching anime and playing video games.
